Here’s a little about why I work:
Direct sales and being your own boss aren’t always easy. While there is no one telling you what to do and making you get up to go to work every day (YAY) There’s also a downside to that. YOU have to be the one to want to get up and go to work. You can avoid it and no one will yell at you and you can’t get fired, but you also won’t be making money and contributing to yourself and your family’s financial future.
There has to be a WHY!
Why am I doing this again?
Why do I have to get up?
What have I gotten myself into?
My happy place.
I am a warm weather, beach loving, snow hating person living in Chicago. Yes, I know officially we have a beach, but it’s only good about 3 months out of the year and then it’s so busy it’s not really fun. We have snow. Some years we have LOTS and LOTS of snow.
I do NOT want to live here forever. I want to move to Florida where it’s warm and there are lots of beaches and I will never have to see snow again. Moving halfway across the county where you know no one takes planning and money.
When I am having one of those, maybe I’ll just skip work today and take a nap kinds of days. The fact that winter is almost here and this IS going to be my last winter, makes me get up and do hard things.
Here are a few shots from my recent vacation.
My family and my why for them.
I am a single parent still raising 4 out of my 5 children. One is on his own now and soon another one may decide to take that leap. They have had to live through all kinds of ups and downs in this life. It hasn’t been easy. Sometimes we are really poor and they have to understand that there are no extras. They have had to understand what it’s like to not have electricity for a few days because it got shut off. They have to understand why they don’t have any of the cool new “things” their friends have.
Now I want it to be different for them. I don’t want to tell them no because I HAVE to tell them no. I want them to be able to not stress about finances. I want to take them on vacations. They deserve to have things that are fun and new.
Last year is the first year in their lives, they have gotten to live that way and I have gotten to provide for them in the manner that I have wished to do since each of them were born. They get to go to a weeklong summer camp in Tennessee because I get to provide that for them!
IT FEELS AMAZING!
I get to wake up and provide for them!
My happy place involves doing the work it takes to live out my whys.
This means that even when I really don’t want to make calls or meet new people, I do it anyway. Instead of hiding in bed because I’m scared of making a new connection or asking someone to buy from me, I get to do it. I do the hard things every day, so that we can live the life I dream and provide for my family.
Tell me about your why. What makes you get up and do hard things?
Have you ever thought about having a business or side hustle to help you with those whys? Let’s talk about it.
