Hiding the sweat stains
Yeah, let’s go there first. We all sweat sometimes. To camouflage the sweat wear patterns or dark colors. While everyone talks about lighter colors, they show the sweat WAY faster than darker colors.
Linen in cool and comfortable in the summer heat because it’s breathable unlike synthetically made fabrics. BUT, it has absolutely no stretch to it. You may choose to size one size up when purchasing linen tops. Let it be flowy to allow better air movement and to keep you cooler.
Don’t tuck it in
Choosing shirts that do not need to be tucked in helps keep you cooler. There isn’t bunches of fabric around your midsection and it allows for more air movement. Summer also tends to be a time when you can be just a bit more casual. If you normally wear your button down tucked in, try leaving it out in the summer for a more casual, yet still professional look.
Choose your shoes
If you can do a open breathable sandal, you’ll keep your feet cool and sweat free. If you feel the need to slip on those tennis shoes, you may discover the sweat and smell starts building. Use cedar shoe inserts, baking soda, or purchased sprays or freshening balls available at most shoe stores.
Shorts vs dresses or skirts
I don’t do shorts. As someone that experiences thigh rub, shorts don’t work well for me. Either they are very short leaving my thighs rubbing together all day OR they are longer and keep riding up. It’s NOT an attractive look when you pull them from your crotch several times a day. I love either skirts or dresses with my favorite life altering product Bandelettes. I love them so much there needs to be an entire post about them! I’m cool, I’m comfortable and my thighs are happy!
While I love a great statement necklace, if I’m going to be outside all day in the sun it may not be the best choice. If they are metal they can get hot. They also can cause you to sweat and stick to your skin. Keep necklaces on the longer, looser side or choose something more dainty and save your statement piece for your ears. Statement earrings can be your summer pop of style. While they do show of your style, they don’t weigh you down or make you too warm. Want to read more about must have earrings?
